REQUIREMENTS

Swanton Fire and Rescue employs full time firefighter/paramedics and firefighter/EMTs who perform a wide variety of tasks. Some tasks include fire and EMS daily training, fire inspections, vehicle maintenance, and public education events. This position must be a State of Ohio certified firefighter and EMT or paramedic. Swanton Fire and Rescue employs permanent part time firefighter/EMTs. These members work 12 hour shifts and supplement the full time staff. They are required to maintain at minimum State Certification in firefighter I and EMT. Permanent part time members benefit from a defined schedule and shift. Swanton Fire and Rescue employs contingent part time firefighter/EMTs. These members work 12 or 24 hour shift to supplement the full time staff. They are required to submit 24 hours of shift availability each month to maintain a contingent status. They are required to maintain at minimum State Certification in firefighter 1 and EMT.
